Mop and bucket for cleaningEverybody wants to have a clean home. You often find homes with a different set of cleaners for each job. Some have various cleaners for the kitchen, for the bedrooms, and for the bathroom. They all seem to remove the dirt and grime. But you might not realize that you are inhaling harmful chemicals as you go about scrubbing dirty areas of your home.

Why Use Natural Cleaners

Studies have shown that standard home cleaners are full of chemicals that are harmful to the body. Chemicals such as ethylene glycol in car cleaning products, formaldehyde in disinfectants and air fresheners, phenols and ammonia in disinfectants, and ammonium hydroxide in spot removers. Instead of using these cleaners that may create adverse health effects on the body, go for a natural cleaner that works just as well.

Clean and Green

You don’t have to make a choice; your home can be both clean and green. These days, you can opt for an effective natural cleaner instead of sticking with standard cleaners. You can acquire a green cleaner from various manufacturers that adhere to the environmental standards set by the EPA. You can also look for recipes on homemade cleaners, to be assured that your product contains only natural ingredients. You might be surprised that the old and faithful vinegar can be used for many cleaning projects or as the base ingredient in making a green cleaner.

Wash Clothes the Natural Way

You can also look for an eco-friendly detergent to wash your clothes. Ingredients in green detergents tend to be mild to the skin while being friendly to the environment as well. Using organic cleaning methods, whether doing it yourself or using a green dry cleaner, can benefit your family as a whole since you would be lessening their exposure to harmful chemicals.

With so many options today, we can make choices that are chemical free, VOC free and conscious free. We can clean our homes without polluting our lives taking care of our families and the environment.

My favorite is castile soap. I can used it to clean everything from dishes to clothes to even my hair. And it has natural antibacterial properties.

Salt, baking soda and vinegar are three awesome natural cleaners. Each has its own cleaning advantages and can help you avoid having to use smelly, chemical filled cleaners. They are also cheaper. Baking soda works wonders on countertop stains and wine stains. Vinegar and newspaper will clean windows really well. Remember these common ingredients before you reach for harmful chemicals.

I remember trying some of these green cleaners a long time ago and they didn't work. It seems enough time has passed for the manufacturers to improve the formulas. I have used Castile soap but would not use it for my hair. I am Pantene girl through and through.

Totally agree with the sentiments on here.
I love something called Aleppo soap which is mainly olive oil and laurel - a wonderfully creamy soap which floats in the bath!!

Of course I am in the UK so we may not get the same product lines.
